Covid-19 Fit to Fly PCR Test and Certificate
Do you need to get tested before travelling during COVID-19? The answer is yes. If you are traveling abroad then you require proof that you are fit to fly. Many countries now require a negative Covid-19 PCR swab test and certificate to show that you are not currently infected with the virus. Proviris Solutions provides a Fit to Fly test kit to test you for Covid-19 and will issue a certificate for your flight.
You will receive your test result and certificate within 24 hours of your sample arriving at the laboratory.

FAQS
Yes. Testing all passengers prior to flying helps to reduce Covid-19 transmission during flight.
Many countries now require proof of a negative Covid-19 PCR swab test which you will need to present to the carrier when checking in and again when you land at your destination country.
For a Fit Fly certificate for travel, the date of the test result on the certificate must be within 48 to 72 hours before arrival at your destination. It is therefore advisable to order your test kit at least 7 to 10 days before your flight. If you order your test kit before 3pm Monday to Friday, we will send it on the same day using priority Royal Mail and it will arrive the next day. Weekend orders will take an additional 1 to 2 days to arrive.
Your test result will be ready 24 hours after the sample arrives at the lab. You should therefore take the test to collect your sample and send it to the lab the day before your time window begins. This means if you need a certificate dated within three days of your flight, you must send your sample to the lab four days before you fly.
It is important to follow the instructions carefully. You will need to collect a sample from the back of your throat and inside your nostril with the same swab. You should then use the tracked, postage-paid envelope to send your sample to our laboratory for analysis on the same day.
The amount of time it takes to get results for your Covid-19 test depends on the type of test you get. The PCR test result takes 24-48 hours. Antigen lateral flow tests are available within 15 minutes as there is no need to send the sample to the lab.
You will need to order your Covid-19 test kit online and we will send your Covid-19 test kit to you in the post by special delivery so it arrives the next day. This test kit contains everything you need to take your PCR sample correctly, and includes a tracked, postage-paid envelope to return your sample to the lab. Once your sample has been analysed at the lab, we will email you to notify you about your results. We will also email your test report detailing your results, along with your signed and dated Fit to Fly Certificate.
It is important to check with your carrier as they can provide information about the type of test required for travel. The PCR test is the “gold standard” of testing and many carriers and countries will only accept this type of mandatory test as proof of a Fit to Fly certificate. However, some carriers are now accepting antigen lateral flow tests as proof of Fit to Fly.
Under current UK COVID-19 restrictions it is illegal to travel abroad from the UK for holidays. You need a permitted reason to travel abroad if you live in England, and you must complete a declaration form for international travel, including for travel within the Common Travel Area (which includes Ireland). You must follow the current COVID-19 rules for where you live, in England, Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland.
These travel restrictions are subject to change so you should stay up to date with the Government’s advice about travel https://www.gov.uk/guidance/travel-advice-novel-coronavirus and find out about your destination requirements, https://www.gov.uk/foreign-travel-advice including all countries you are passing through if you have a flight transfer. You should contact your travel carrier and the relevant authorities if you are unsure about their Covid-19 travel requirements.
When the UK Government allows us to holiday abroad again, destination countries will be put in one of three colour-coded categories with different rules for returning travellers.
Red – countries on this list will be in the red category. If you are British national or resident returning to the UK you will have to pay for a 10 day hotel quarantine. Non-British nationals or residents who have passed through a red country will be refused UK entry.
Amber – The UK Government are yet to provide details but it could require a 10-day return quarantine at home, with possible early release after a negative Covid-19n test result.
Green – Returning to the UK from a country on the green list does not require isolation on return but you will need a pre-departure and post arrival Covid-19 test.
The PCR swab test is regarded as the “gold standard” as they are highly accurate at 99.9% with the correct sampling technique. Please ensure that you follow the sample collection instructions carefully.
